In home textiles, muslin usually means double gauze: two fine layers of loosely woven cotton joined together. Air between the layers makes it light, soft and absorbent, and it has a natural crinkle after washing. Double-layer muslin is usually 110–150 g/m²; four- and six-layer versions are used for throws and blankets. It is used for baby products and summer bedding. Prices are visible to members.

Frequently asked questions
- Is muslin the same as single gauze?
- In home textiles muslin means double gauze: two layers joined at regular points. In the UK and parts of Europe muslin can also mean a fine single-layer cotton cloth. Ask for the number of layers and the weight in writing.
- Does muslin need ironing?
- No. The crinkled look after washing is part of the fabric.
- Does muslin shrink?
- Its loose weave can shrink in the first wash. Ask for the shrinkage rate before cutting, or order the fabric pre-washed.
- Do fine prints come out sharp on muslin?
- Thin lines and very small details are less sharp on a loose weave than on densely woven poplin. Choose the design with that in mind.
