TkanIstanbul supplies Poplin / Ranforce fabrics wholesale by the roll from Istanbul; the series are listed below.
Poplin and ranforce are plain-weave cotton bedding fabrics; in Türkiye the two names usually mean the same fabric. The warp is finer than the weft, which gives a smooth surface with a slight sheen. What affects the price?
- Thread count and yarn: denser fabric with finer yarn costs more per metre. Common values are 57 and 63 threads with 30/1 yarn.
- Width: 240 cm fabric lets duvet covers and sheets be cut without side seams; it costs more per metre than narrow fabric but saves waste and sewing time.
- Colour and design: solid colour (akfil), patterned and digital print series are priced differently. Digital print suits short runs.
- Quantity and customer group: the price is given in the quote according to order size.

Frequently asked questions
- Are poplin and ranforce the same fabric?
- In Türkiye the two names usually mean the same fabric: plain-weave cotton bedding fabric at 57–63 threads.
- What is the difference between 57 and 63 threads?
- Thread count is the number of warp and weft yarns per square centimetre. 63 threads is denser, about 160 TC, while 57 threads is about 145 TC. Read it together with the weight in g/m².
- What width do I need for a duvet cover?
- A double duvet cover (200 x 220 cm) needs at least 210 cm; bedding fabric is usually 220–240 cm wide. Double flat sheets use 260–280 cm fabric.
- What does akfil mean?
- It is the Turkish trade name for poplin piece-dyed in a single colour.
- Is this poplin for sheeting or for shirts?
- The poplin in this category is 240 cm wide bedding fabric (sheeting). Shirting poplin is narrower and woven for apparel; check the width and use before ordering.
- What is 240 cm in inches?
- 240 cm is about 94 inches. Wide sheeting sold in the US as 108-inch fabric is about 274 cm, so compare the actual width in centimetres.
- Ranforce or percale?
- Both are plain weaves. Ranforce uses 57–63 threads and usually 30/1 yarn; percale uses 70–80 threads and 40/1 yarn, so it feels cooler and crisper. Ranforce is the common choice for everyday bedding.
- Ranforce or cotton sateen?
- Ranforce is a plain weave, matte and hard-wearing. Sateen is a satin weave from 82 threads up, smoother and with a sheen. Hotels and premium sets favour sateen; everyday sets use ranforce.
- Does cotton poplin breathe?
- Yes. 100% cotton poplin lets air through and absorbs moisture, so it feels less sweaty than fabric with polyester.
- How many metres are in a roll and what does it weigh?
- Roll length depends on the series; 30 m rolls are common for bedding fabric. Weight follows from width, length and fabric weight: a 30 m roll of 240 cm, 125 g/m² poplin weighs 2.4 x 30 x 0.125 = about 9 kg.
